Great finds in Mexico and the Caribbean for less than $20 .
Part of the traveling pleasure is bringing something home to remind you of the place you've visited and hopefully liked. The French have the perfect term for it 'souvenir', which is loosely translated into memory or remembrance. The problem with most souvenirs is that they might look ever so appealing that doomed frenzied buying moment but never appeal to any one's taste once you bounce back into reality. This lesson is especially good to teach autistic globetrotters who have a hard time telling the difference between useful and useless, and as a result end up with many items they can't use.
This column will try to give ideas of actual souvenirs you will enjoy using after you return home, with the useful details of what items to buy and approximately how much to spend for it.Please keep in mind that prices could depend in some countries on time of year and sometimes haggling power.
Beach bags from Mexico
PROS -Great find in my opinion for personal use and gifts.
Although they are sold in different sizes and colors,I love the X -large,20" by 20" size, best.
Different ports sell them with the port name stitched on them like Cabo San Lucas,Puerta Vallarta,Cancun and so on.Multiple usages-beach bag, hand bag for long flights, diaper bag and even school bag.
The X-large sells for $12 so keep in mind smaller bags should be cheaper!
Huge plus is that it is machine washable too.
CONS-Lacking inside division,so you need to spend a few seconds finding your particular items in it.

Beach Dresses from Mexico and Caribbean Islands
PROS-Great elastic bust and loose fit for everyone.
Copied from the Hawaiian patterns, some even have extra sequins or extra fancy stitching added.
I suspect that at least the rayon fabric ,the dresses are made of ,originates in the far east, and that each area then sews their own ,but then again I might be totally mistaken.
Available in a plethora of colors and cuts,I buy the longer version
.Prices vary from $12-$25 depending again on the ports of call, cities, time of year and haggling power.
Useful not only as a beach cover up but as a house dress and for hopping on quick errands on those 100 degrees weather when you want to literally walk 'sans'....Machine washable on very delicate but do not dry in the dryer ever!
CONS-None really just know the fabric is fine and somewhat seen through,so wear adequate coverage under it.
